Applicants qualifying for the prize are those who in the previous calendar year were awarded a doctor's degree in technical sciences in transport or in geodesy and cartography.  Application submitting a candidate to the Award, indicating their outstanding scientific and research achievements in the doctoral dissertation in maritime navigation and a set of documents as set forth in the regulations, in a paper and electronic form, should be submitted to the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation, the Maritime University of Szczecin till 28 February. Once the nominees are approved by the Navigation Faculty Board, the Dean shall send the application to the Polish Navigational Forum till 31 March.
