The Department of Geoinformatics
is one of six departments at the Faculty of Navigation, MUS. Its scope of activities includes research and teaching in such areas as geodesy, cartography, geoinformatics and land surveying.
The Department's staff of researchers and teachers, some with land surveying licences, provides students with high-level teaching and practical training.
The Department of Geoinformatics supervises and updates the contents of the study programs in Geodesy and Cartography, Geoinformatics and specialized subjects in Hydrographic Survey and Aids to Navigation.
Hundreds of students attend Geodesy and Cartography courses either in full-time or part-time form. First cycle programs are aimed at the education of highly qualified personnel for institutions and companies dealing with various aspects of geodesy and cartography.
The curriculum comprises seven semesters of teaching activities, including specialized and field-specific subjects. During the study period, students have a four week practical training.
Graduates may choose activities requiring competences in geodesy, cartography, terrain information systems, use of modern surveying, satellite, photogrammetric and remote sensing technologies and methods.
