On 19 February 2020, Navigation Faculty Dean, Prof. Paweł Zalewski attended a ceremony commemorating 100th anniversary of the creation of the Polish Hydrographic Service, co-organised by the Hydrographic Office of the Polish Navy, Hydrographic Support Unit of the Navy, the Naval Academy and the Society of Marine Hydrographers of the Republic of Poland.

19 February 1920 marks the establishment of the Hydrographic Office of the Navy, the first Polish state institution engaged in hydrographic work after Poland regained independence. The date is considered as the start of Polish Hydrographic Service, operating as part of the Navy as well as maritime administration. On 19 February 2020, Dean of the Faculty of Navigation, Prof. Paweł Zalewski took part in a ceremony commemorating 100th anniversary of the creation of the Polish Hydrographic Service, co-organised by the Hydrographic Office of the Polish Navy, Hydrographic Support Unit of the Navy, the Naval Academy and the Society of Marine Hydrographers of the Republic of Poland. The major highlights of the programme included:
- laying flowers at the grave of the first Chief of the Navy's Hydrographic Office, Admiral Józef UNRUG at the cemetery of the Navy, Gdynia Oksywie.
- mass at the Garrison Church of the Navy in Gdynia, combined with the unveiling of a plaque commemorating officers, non-commissioned officers, enlisted personnel and civil staff of the hydrographic service of the Navy.
- a popular science conference at the Library of the Naval Academy, handing in awards and distinctions, opening of an occasional exhibition '100 years of the Polish Hydrographic Service'.
- signing the letter of co-operation plans for 2020 by the Hydrographic Office of the Navy and Maritime Offices of Gdynia and Szczecin.
